Thrifty Minnesota Mama and Crocs!

Posted by: GeorgeGSmithjr on: July 13, 2009

While this might be the Crocs™ blog, I like to think of it as the Crocs™ Community blog. It’s here we get to share the stories of real people who wear and love our products. Today we continue our theme for July – sharing your story. Coffee with the Mrs. is running a contest and each Monday, we’re featuring some of our favorite bloggers and their stories. Today, we’re featuring Sarah from Thrifty Minnesota Mama and she’s here to share her story:

My name is Sarah. I am a Registered Nurse formerly working in Labor and Delivery for 3 years before giving birth to my own little bundle of joy, Danika. After having Danika, I decided to become a full time stay at home mom. My husband and I both worked shift work and we couldn’t see putting our baby on our crazy schedule. Most days we didn’t know if we were coming or going, much less put a baby on that crazy schedule. It was a big decision to cut our income in half, but I knew that I could never get those early years with my baby back. I didn’t want to miss all of her firsts, first time rolling over, talking, laughing, and walking (still to come).

After being home with her for almost a year I have learned many ways to save a buck and stretch our smaller budget. I decided to start Thrifty Minnesota Mama, a blog where I share tips and help moms find products that work and give them the most “bang for their buck.” I am a big believer in spending your money on one great product that works well than buying several products that don’t work as well and wasting your money while trying to save a buck here or there.

While working as an RN, I discovered the comfort of Crocs. I was constantly on my feet and working in labor and delivery can be very physically draining. Often times you were in a room on your feet for several hours helping a mom labor and deliver. I soon had several pairs of Crocs in several fun colors and the trend caught on in my department. I’m sure you are all very familiar with the “medical crocs”. Typically I find that everyone I know has heard of Crocs, but no one knows the wide variety of shoes and styles they offer.

Now that I am a full time mom I find I still need the comfort that Crocs shoes offer, but I also want to be stylish and trendy. I don’t want to fall into the trap of letting my style and fashion sense slide just because I am not out in the working world. I was delighted to find the wide variety and adorable shoes that Crocs offers for not just me, but my whole family.

I have to say I LOVE being a stay at home mom. When I decided that I wouldn’t be going back to work after I delivered so many people said “you’ll never regret it”, and I really know that I won’t ever regret it. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my daughter and our next child (due Christmas day!). I love that I don’t miss out on any of her “firsts” and she has the benefit of having mommy there with her everyday. It is funny because often when people hear I am a stay at home mom they say “don’t you get bored?”. I am busier now than when I worked and the answer is invariably absolutely not! Between taking care of Danika, my home and running my blog, I am busier than ever. Of course I also have taken up several hobbies since being at home and I often don’t have time to keep up with them all, but I love that I will be able to share those hobbies with Danika as she gets older. If anyone is thinking of making the jump from working mom to staying at home with your children I would recommend it one hundred times over. You will most likely have to adjust your spending as we did, but it can be done. It takes time and effort (think clipping coupons and watching for sales) but you will be amazed at how easily it can be done if you put your mind to it. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made!

So whether you are a stay at home mom or full time working mom I can honestly say Crocs™ shoes has you covered! They have fit into every area in my life as I transitioned from full time working to full time motherhood. Whether I was running around helping to deliver the babies at work or chasing after my own Crocs has always taken care of my feet. Thank you to Crocs for helping make this mamas life a little easier and more comfortable!

Thank you so much Sarah for sharing your story and we’re so excited that Crocs can be a part of your life. Crocs Community – make sure to check out Sarah’s blog and leave a comment saying hi!

SARAH ROCKS!!

You are soo blessed!!! There is nothing more precious than being a stay at home mommy. (Comment edited as per Crocs Comment Policy) I too found the joy of being a mommy for life. All of my kids are Crocamaniacs for life. We have croc parties once a month in our planned community and I always bake my special apple crusted brown sugar cinnamon caramel swirl butterscotch drizzle orange slice popcorn muffin ball squares and my deep fried spicy rutabaga bombs!!

Who does that hunky hubbies hair?? All I can say is dang to those bangs!!

God Bless!!

Stephie

What we need in this world is more people like sarah in this world. Thats a pretty inspiring story. I have been buying used crocs from hard working moms and collecting them for some time now. I prefer them to brand new because i like the sensual feeling as compared to new. Talk about walking a mile in someones shoes!!

It’s stories like this that make this country great!!

I love Sarah’s blog! What a sweet little family she has :)

What a inspiring story, and beautiful family!

It’s good to learn more about Sarah–I love her blog! Her reviews are based on direct expeirence with the products and you can trust her opinions. My son and daughter-in-law are huge Cocs fanatics and they–and Sarah have convinced me that I need to get a pair for myself.

Awe, thank you Sarah for sharing your beautiful story!

I’ve recently returned to work so no crocs for me but, how great to have a profession that allows you to have fun covered footsies.

So great to hear you can stay at home, too bad all moms in this economy can’t do the same. So many moms have shared their stories of economic survival me… you are one very luck mommy. Enjoy every moment.

Love Croc’s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I might have to give crocs a try!!

It’s nice to hear a little about your back ground and family. Thanks for sharing!

Being a nurse is such a special gift and I thank-you for all that you have done for others in their time of need! You have a very beautiful family! I do not wear Crocs but my daughter does.

Great story. Crocs are so nice!!!

congrats on the new little one! i’m just a bit behind you … but with my third! and funny. my crocs are the one shoe that isn’t driving me crazy batty! i love my crocs!

I’m a Minnesota SAHM, too! Isn’t it great?! I have newly discovered Crocs…they’re my house shoes. I’m a FlyLady girl and need shoes to wear around the house, but not ones that will get dirt all over the place. They’re so comfy!

I also, am a MN SAHM!! (well, not technically. I’m living here with my parents while my husband is deployed, we live in TX) I’m glad you are happy with your decision to stay at home- I also am having a second one and am due December 20th!

Thank you all for such nice comments! It’s nice to see a couple other SAHM’s in the bunch :) My family read my review and went out and bought some crocs too :) So many people are unaware of all of the awesome styles they carry. Thanks for allowing me to guest post on your blog!

Sarah is awesome, we love crocs and that’s a great story. I would never regret being a SAHM either.

It’s a big decision to stay at home, but as you well know it’s so worth it! I’m planning on getting everyone some Crocs before our camping trip next month!

Sarah, you are one blogging Mom who has it all together.
I too love my Crocs and seem to have many more than i really need. But thats the fun of it, isn’t it? Having a pair to match every outfit.
