Crocs Community: IE Mommy and her Twins

Posted by: GeorgeGSmithjr on: July 6, 2009

Monday Mornings are a great time to share stories. Today on the blog, we’re have a story from Christine of IE mommy. Read the story and be sure to check out her blog today!

My twins are addicted to Crocs™. If they see them in a store display, magazine or advertisement…I guarantee you they will come running and proclaiming,  “Mama, Mama – look Crocs! Aren’t they cool?”

I am not exactly sure when they became addicted to Crocs but I can say it was very close to the time when Grandma brought home a few pairs of {gasp} imitation Crocs. My mother meant well and they were cute (ok, not really but she might read this). But hey, let’s face facts, they were not the real deal and my girls knew it.

My mom proudly came over and showed the girls her bounty of discount shoes. She had a multitude of different colors. I tensed because I knew how my girls felt about their beloved Crocs.

They looked at each pair carefully. I saw that they were very intent on reviewing the straps. I was totally confused with their reaction until Skylar loudly proclaimed. “These are not real Crocs” and dropped the shoe back into the bag. My mom sat there trying not to laugh.

I just had to ask them, “How do you know they are not real?”

“Duh, they don’t have a crocodile!” Rylan remarked.

I laughed and laughed till my sides hurt. They were so right! They didn’t have a crocodile emblem – plus they were very hard and not flexible. I didn’t know what to say about the entire situation. I felt bad for my mom but being “grandma,” she just thought the entire situation was adorable.

Given any option of any shoe, my twins will choose Crocs. The twins are not big fans of shoes. They would rather run around barefoot then suffer the agony of tennis shoes or boots. Crocs have the ability to appease my desire to have little feet protected and their desire to “run free”.

Recently we had a meltdown because we could only find one purple Crocs shoe! I truly thought the world was going to end. Here I was climbing under beds, behind couches and searching deep within the hall closets trying to find the beloved purple Crocs shoe. I was informed that it was the “favoritest, bestest” shoe ever! My search was frantic….

I know there will be times that the twins will “have” to wear a different type of shoe but I have to admit, it makes me cringe. Crocs are synonymous with quality and durability plus as my girls say “They are fun and cool“. If you haven’t taken the time to notice, they have a HUGE selection of styles, colors and characters. I can only imagine one day when the twins are old enough to get married that I will be on the hunt for white crocs embellished with gemstones. But, “that scenario” is a long way down the road.  In the meantime we will be content having Crocs in every color! It makes my girls happy. Happy girls make me happy and you know the saying “If Mama’s happy, everyone is happy.”

By the way, I did find the missing shoe. It was in the Barbie house – I guess Crocs™ can also be Barbie cars.

Thank you so much Christine! We love hearing from everyone in the Crocs™ community! If you want to share your story, write one for your blog. Coffee with the Mrs. is running a contest for the entire month of July for anyone who shares their story and links to the sweepstakes page. Check it out here for more details.

Thanks for sharing that cute story. I can relate because I find myself looking for the crocodiles too. No fakes in this house, they HAVE to be Crocs!
